Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age limit?
Yes, for deals purchased through voucher companies the age limit is 16 years of age. Minimum age for Skids for Kids 12 providing minimum height if 4'6"
You must mention when booking if someone participating in driving activities is under the age of 18. Parental / guardians will need to be in attendance and sign the disclaimer on behalf of the driver. We do on occasion teach people younger than this, in fact some the fastest progressing pupils we have had come to us have been as young as 14 years old.
Each young driver application will be reviewed on a case by case basis, these tuition sessions would be held on specific dates through out the year and separate from our busy public days.
Please contact us if you would like to discuss your options with us.
Can I bring my friends and family along to watch my driving experience?
Whilst you are more than welcome to bring people along to watch we respectfully ask that you ensure that children are supervised at all times.
Is there any options to have photographs / videos taken of me? Can I bring my own equipment / friends to take pictures?
We have an onsite photographer, he can take pictures of you on the day and either print them out at the end of your session or post them out at a later date. In addition to this they can record video by means of GoPro camera fixed inside or outside the car, footage can either be supplied to you as raw data, copyright free for you to use as you wish or in the form of edited videos. If this is something that you are interested in please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and pre booking discounts.
If you wish to photograph or record events yourself then you are more than welcome too, we will endeavor to attach any cameras or equipment onto the cars as you request but it is entirely at your own risk and will only be attempted if you have suitable suction type mounts with you on the day.
Are there snacks and refreshments available on site?
We do have for sale on site, cold drinks and also tea, coffee and hot chocolate. We also have chocolate bars and Pot Noodle type snacks available.
Will my experience be cancelled in adverse weather conditions?
We don't allow bad weather to stop us from having fun at the Flatout Factory! The only time we will cancel activities is during snow / severe ice. This is to keep you all safe from slips and falls on site and also from the possibility of getting stuck along your journey to the park. We will inform you of any potential cancellations on a case by case basis. We are a predominately outdoor based activity and whilst there is shelter in our training room facility from bad weather we advise you to be prepared for your experience by carrying some warm clothes with you and I would suggest an umbrella is always a useful item to carry. What can seem like a wonderful day on leaving the house can soon turn wet and windy later in the day!
Do I need to dress accordingly for the activity?
In addition to the recommendations based on weather conditions we would strongly advise that you bring some comfortable flat soled shoes to wear that are suitable for driving in. If your experience includes a passenger ride then you will be required to wear a long sleeve top and trousers for this activity.
Do I require a helmet to wear?
For the basic skill aspects of the course in zone 1, helmets are not required. If your training includes driving sessions in zone 2 (usually limited to full day and intensive training courses) or hot lap passenger rides the helmets are required. We do have helmets available for you to wear but you are also more than welcome to bring your own with you to wear.
Do I need to bring my driving license with me?
Yes! Unless you have spoken to us prior to your experience to discuss this you will be required to bring your license as proof of driving competency before we allow you to go in the cars. If you arrive on the day without your license then you will have to under go a competency test to satisfy our instructors and insurers that you are capable of operating a motor vehicle safely. There is a charge of £20 on the day for the test and additional insurance costs incurred.
Can I drift my own car on the day?
We have training packages available were you are able to use your own car. Applications are considered on a case by case basis for this. Please contact us if you would like to talk about this.
I have put the postcode B8 1AD into my postcode and it takes me to Ventitia Road where the entrance is closed, what shall I do?
The B8 1AD postcode for the venue is for the center of Birmingham Wheels adventure park. The access gate that you require is on Adderley Road South, off Landor Street. If your satellite navigation is offering Venetia road then please re enter Adderley Road South as the destination.
