The Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Academy Course has been designed to provide professional and structured tuition to those that wish to learn more about the skill set required to learn to drift a car properly.
Starting from the basic skills of Level 1 you are only 15 steps away from becoming a professional drifter in top level competition and our fully experienced instructors will be on hand to guide and support you every step of the way.
As you work through the increasingly advanced levels you will gain skills that improve your driving standard whilst progressing to the most exciting aspect of drifting, going into battle against other drivers in a competition environment. To reflect your training for battle skills and to pay homage to drifting's Japanese roots we have used a martial arts type grading system.
Each level has been designed to group together relevant skills in order for you to progress in as smooth and efficient way possible. Modules include a mix of theory and practical driving sessions as well as being provided with training resources to help you prepare for the following levels.

Level 1 – White Belt

The start of your 15 step journey to becoming a professional drifter, level 1 focuses on the key skills required to learn to drift a car..
Key skills achieved on this level;
How to perform power over entries, how to 'set' a drift, throttle balance and adjustment to control the drift, how to safely exiting a slide, bringing the car to a controlled stop.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Level 1 – White belt! This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto level 2!

Level 2 – Yellow Belt

Having gained a good basic level of control with long continuous drifts it is time to move on to transitions, drifters terminology for changing direction mid-drift, essential for being able to link those corners together seamlessly whilst sideways!
Key skills achieved on this level;
How to make a drift car change direction correctly using weight transfer and steering techniques, understanding and dealing with under-steer and wheel speed awareness.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Level 2 – Yellow belt! This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto level 3!

Level 3 – Green Belt

This level starts to develop more advanced skills and build upon the solid foundations you will have already achieved in the first two levels.
Key skills achieved on this level;
Extending a drift beyond its natural course, use of clutch kicks and steering flicks as well as how to cancel a drift and save a spin.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Level 3 – Green Belt! This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto level 4!

Level 4 – Blue Belt

Further building on the foundation skills it is time to introduce Handbrake / E-Brake use in its proper forms.
Key skills achieved on this level;
Surface awareness and how these changes effect a car during drift. Handbrake use to extend a drift, maintain angle and slow a drift down. Changes of surface skills including wet to dry to wet drifting.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Level 4 – Blue Belt! This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto level 5!

Level 5 – Red Belt

Developing handbrake skills further as well as incorporating footbrake use to allow a more complete level of control.
Key skills achieved on this level;
Working on handbrake entries, weight transfer and feint entries whilst also introducing advanced braking techniques during these maneuvers.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Level 5- Red Belt! This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto level 6!

Level 6 - Purple Belt

Opposite way entries are certainly one way to impress the crowds and judges during a drift competition, in this module we work on these flamboyant skills.
Key skills achieved on this level;
Unsettling a car through weight shift on entry, using angle to slow a drift down, advanced transition placement and opposite / manji entries.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Level 6 – Orange Belt! This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto level 7!

Level 7 – Orange Belt

Here we start to take all the core skills from the previous 6 levels and put it all together making your drifts consistent and on the lines needed to make the drifts flow fluently.
Key skills achieved on this level;
Putting a car onto a designated line or choosing a line that works for single corner or set of corners. How to reach clipping points and exit smoothly, rear end proximity, running the wall and special awareness. Aggression control and balance.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Level 7 - Orange Belt! This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto level 8!

Level 8 – Pink Belt

By this point students are well on their way towards either becoming confident recreational drifters or have their eyes on competitive drift life. It is now time to look at drifting with others in close proximity.
Key skills achieved on this level;
Using left foot braking and handbrake to modulate speed and angle to match a lead car drifting a specified line. Adjusting forward momentum to gain and reduce proximity. Managing aggression and nerves.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Level 8 - Pink Belt! This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto level 9!

Level 9 – Grey Belt

Having a solid grounding in the skills needed for twinning from level 8, its time to work on more competitive elements of twinning and the timing required to stay 'door to door' throughout a set of corners.
Key skills achieved on this level;
Twin drift entry techniques, advanced lines and techniques. Twinning transitions, timings and positioning's. Reacting to light contact and how to minimize damage in a crash situation.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Level 9 - Grey Belt! This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto level 10!

Level 10 – Brown Belt

In preparation for the upcoming competitions it is time to put these skills into practice on different tracks and demonstrate a competence in all the previous skills at 3 different tracks. Flatout Factory operate from 3 venues that have 4 tracks available for this including the very same circuits used for rounds of Drift Cup and British Drift Championship. Our coaches will ensure you quickly apply the skills you have previously learnt at a variety of different venues.
Key skills achieved on this level;
Polishing the skills from all the previous modules and applying them to different and varied situations.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Level 10 - Brown Belt! This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto level 11!

Level 11 – Black Belt

Achieving your black belt requires a good overall understanding and demonstration of the practical skills required to become a competitive drifter.
You will take part in an Academy competition against other pupils, instructors and guest drifters to demonstrate that you have gained not only good practical driving skills but also the organizational, preparation and psychological skills needed to perform well under the judges eye when the pressure is on.
Key skills achieved on this level;
Preparation and participation in a drift competition. Track side competitive etiquette, managing nerves and applying your skills to the judging criteria.
Upon successfully passing your grading you will achieve the coveted Flatout Factory Drift Ninja Black Belt. This comes with a certificate of achievement, a sticker to display and of course, the opportunity to progress onto the 'Dan' levels too further your progress towards becoming a professional drifter.

Level 12 – Black Belt 1st Dan (Black and bronze belt)

Having achieved your black belt it is now time to take your skills and take them into battle at National level competitions.
To gain this belt you must qualify in the 'Top 32' and win a battle at DriftCup, the feeder series for the UK's Premier drift competition; The British Drift Championship.
At this level our students will be coached on every aspect of becoming a professional drifter including team sponsorship, social media usage and team management.
Your instructors will be on hand to offer support and guidance through out the event including;
  • Event preparation and logistics.
  • Set up and pack down of the pit area.
  • On the day advice and coaching specific to the circuit.
  • Track side pit crew support for the vehicle.
  • Spotting – The use of 2 way team radios to relay information during the course of the event to the driver.
This level of support allows the driver to concentrate on their main focus, drifting and aiming to complete the targets required to move onto the next level.

Level 13 – Black Belt 2nd Dan (Black and silver belt)

In order to achieve this level successfully you must finish in the Top Four places of a round of DriftCup. This position will see take position on the starting grid at the next round of The British Drift Championship!
Your instructors will be on hand to offer support and guidance through out the event as in the previous levels with additional theory sessions and specific track advise.

Level 14 – Black Belt 3rd Dan (Black and Gold Belt)

In order to gain your 'Semi-Professional' Drift License in the British Drift Championship you must qualify in the Top 16 places at the event.
Gaining a license for the British Championship opens up a lot of doors of opportunity to you. You will be eligible for demonstration driving at shows and events around the country as well as the achieving the kudos that goes with becoming a Semi-Professional drifter.
Our instructors will be on hand to help you organise and put into practice everything you need in order to support you through this process and help you to achieve your goal.

Level 15 – Black Belt 4th Dan – Professional Drifter ( Gold Belt)

To become a Professional Drifter and progress on to the top level of competitive drifting in the UK you must pass through the ranks of the Semi-Professional class and achieve either a podium position or, finish in the Top 8 at the end of season.
Gaining a license for the British Championship opens up a lot of doors of opportunity to you. You will be eligible for demonstration driving at shows and events around the country as well as the achieving the kudos that goes with becoming a Professional drifter.
Our instructors will be on hand to help you organize and put into practice everything you need in order to support you through this process and help you learn to be a Professional Drifter.
